What We Saw This Week
Some of my observations from around the social media networks. Comments I made, events I shared. Stories with some laughter and some concern. Some news stories that created annoyance with politics or moments of joy with a few good news stories too.

Folks, I appreciate the concern about my Migraine the other day. But the 42 messages telling me how to cure migraines was not helpful. Each of you made a couple of assumptions;
1. that I told you everything about my medical condition (I didn’t and never do on social media).
2. That my brand of migraine is like your brand of migraine or like the common variations of migraines. It’s not.
Normal migraines have 3 triggers,
1. Food which can include vitamin deficiency.
These do not affect the type of migraines I get. I’m touched that so many of you want to help. But you can stop now.

Responding to a comment: “Physician heal thyself”:
Well that’s a good point Susan. As spiritual healers we must know the difference between what we can help with and when we must send a client to a medical professional. Spiritual healing is not a replacement for conventional medicine. It’s a support to help treat the whole mind, spirit connection while mainstream medicine treats the body.
The first thing a good healer should do is gather information and remember they don’t have the training to diagnose. Doing so can get a spiritual healer in a lot of trouble, and maybe in legal trouble too. I’m not a medical physician, and I know when to seek help for those physical ailments.
Seeking advise online, or from social media connections isn’t a good idea, and they could be dangerous. Self diagnosis usually is. It might give you information or ideas to discuss with your doctor. But I’d never take advice from someone online, especially when those people don’t know my medical history.

This is the type of abuse women in particular that are in the public’s eye may receive as social media posts/tweets…and it’s not just the women in sports media! Remember: If you wouldn’t say it to their faces, don’t type it!
Mary shared Awful Announcing – Video depicts hateful, violent, abusive messages women in sports media face on Twitter.

Sadly this doesn’t only happen to women in sports. And it doesn’t just happen on Twitter. You wouldn’t believe some of the emails I get simply for being a teacher and minister of my faith. It’s also proof that the United States is not as Progressive as people like to think it is. It’s much more like the Middle East and the treatment of women as second-class Citizens, if they even get that much respect.

This isn’t the 2nd century and women are not property. He’s a typical religious zealot who chooses fundamental Christianity as his religion. How is this any different than fundamental Muslim zealots? Yeah, it’s not.

I spoke about these type of contacts being developed, about 2 years ago on my radio show. What are your thoughts on contact lenses that can record and play back.
Mary shared Alex Klokus’s video.
The Smart Contact Lens
These lenses can record everything you see.

I can see a lot of “invasion of privacy” issues. In many states you can’t record a phone call without disclosure and permission. This takes that recording to a new level. Then there’s corporate disclosure issues. Many companies require non-disclosure agreements, no way those companies allow these. And Nick is right. The first big use will be unwitting porn.

You can sympathize with others, but you cannot empathize unless you have walked in their shoes.

I am skinny shamed all the time.
April 24 at 5:35pm
Most people who feel the need to body shame others aren’t happy with their own appearance. Remember these people don’t know you or who you are. They don’t know the medical challenges you face or how hard it is to put on; or take off weight. The thyroid is finicky organ, and when it has issues it’s not like people can “see” it. Tell them would they shame someone who’s bald when they really have cancer? Then what right do they have to shame someone for an ailment or disease they can’t see? I find it shuts people up pretty fast.

Wholly crap! I wish these people would get their religion OUT of my politics! It amazes me these people are pushing their states back 100 years. Let a woman decide what happens to her body. It’s none of your business. It’s between her, her doctor, and IF he’s there, the father. No one else has a right to be involved in these types of emotional and tough decisions.
