What We Saw This Week

Some of my observations from around the social media networks. Comments I made, events I shared. Stories with some laughter and some concern. Some news stories that created annoyance with politics  or moments of joy with a few good news stories too.

Boaty McBoatface will live on as the name of one of the high-tech sub-sea vehicles on the main ship.
– Boaty By Another Name: ‘Sir David Attenborough’ Is Chosen For British Research Ship

My son has been telling me about this for, well it has to be months! Cracks me up. But I think they should have stuck to the voted name and not vetoed the popular vote. I mean, what was the purpose of the submission/voting in the first place.

Boaty McBoatface will live on as the name of one of the high-tech sub-sea vehicles on the main ship.

Walpurgis Night. Total new one on me!

May 6 at 6:07pm
Looks like fun. Walpurgis Night, a traditional holiday celebrated on April 30 in northern Europe and Scandinavia. In Sweden typical holiday activities include the singing of traditional spring folk songs and the lighting of bonfires.

In Germany the holiday is celebrated by dressing in costumes, playing pranks on people, and creating loud noises meant to keep evil at bay. Many people also hang blessed sprigs of foliage from houses and barns to ward off evil spirits, or they leave pieces of bread spread with butter and honey, called ankenschnitt, as offerings for phantom hounds.

The Aenigma Project did an episode on The MayDay Mystery a couple of years ago. It’s a puzzle of sorts. But no one seems to know what it means. At least no one is saying. A new puzzle is released May 1st each year. And this year is no exception
.

The 2016 Puzzle was released on April 30th on the MayDayMystery.org website.

A number of people ask me if I receive some kind of financial support through my blog and the daily Tarot messages. When I say no, there’s often surprise followed by the inevitable question, “Then why do you do it?”
Here’s why:
Dear Spring, I love the way your meditations are so clear and concise and relevant. This one is incredibly pertinent. It seems impossible that every single person gets the same thing in their inbox because it always feels so personal and completely on point for my particular issues. Very occasionally being a day late in the Southern hemisphere has made me learn something a little more the hard way, still learning though! Your work has been a major support to me in a time of great change, I even find the break on weekends helps me use my own intuition more effectively. The various five minute meditations have eased me into practices that have lifted me out of medication for anxiety and PTSD. This life changing gift is something I never expected to gain. When you were sick I was forced to be more self-reliant, even your troubles helped me. This is the marker of a true healer and spiritual leader, you have completely opened my mind to the value, importance and integrity of this kind of Ministry. I am so grateful I stumbled across your online presence and I hope that one day I get to visit the Haven and thank you in person. Thank You seems inadequate, I [wish] for all you desire to be reality.
Kind Regards, Love, Light, Happiness

Comments like these are always very touching and give me a big boost too. I even appreciate the wish. Not so sure Tony Stewart is ready for that one to come true though.

“Welcome to Negro Night,” is how Wilmore kicked off the night, adding, “Or as Fox News will report, ‘Two thugs disrupt elegant dinner in D.C.'”

It’s called comedy, and that’s never politically correct. By the same token, good comedians can help us laugh at ourselves when they shine a light on the reality of life. If someone doesn’t find him funny, then perhaps they should look in a mirror. He might be talking right to them. I thought he was hilarious.

It pains me to see so many of my friends who are good people going through such hard times. To the ones who’ve had one on one conversations with me, just know I’ll always be here for you. To any of the ones who haven’t, just know I’ll always be here for you.

That’s a rare thing. I had a best friend for more than 10 years, then the “Great” recession hit. We became too poor to be her friend. And a few other people too. So if you have a friend that sticks by you through the bad times, that’s a rare find.

Starbucks sued over too much ice in drinks
nbc4i.com
WHEN A COMPANY PROVIDES A PRODUCT OR SERVICE … that you don’t like – don’t patronize them. That would be too simple, this woman has filed suit against Starbucks, because she has somehow been damaged. I’ve never met her, but my guess is, she was damaged before she ever went to Starbucks. ‪#‎getAlife‬.

I can see complaining about more ice than drink. And I’m not a Starbuck fan, I simply don’t like their products. But even they say, if you don’t like the drink; they’ll remake it. So…why are they being sued? Because someone wants the attention.

A psychology professor says most dogs don’t like hugs. Do you think hugging your dog is too ruff?
– Let’s Not Hug It Out With Our Dogs

Apr 30, 2016 2:46pm
I think this “professor” had a biased view when he conducted this research. And his research consisted of looking at a small sample of pictures. That’s not a study. It’s an opinion and he’s wrong.

I have a ton of pictures of my dogs laying their head on my shoulders, climbing in my lap and waiting for a hug. I have video of asking my dogs for a hug when I needed one, and their ears are perked up, tails wagging and their front feet wrapped around my shoulders pulling me in for a hug.

Everyone in my family and in my in-laws family have similar stories. I question this guys methods and qualifications to make this assumption.
