This isn’t a short post!
But I’m at the end of my frustration and I need help.
I finally had a chance to convert all of our family blogs to SSL about 2 weeks ago. Thanks to the WordPress Forums I was able to solve 90% of the issues I had after converting the first blog. So thanks to those folks for all that.
The first issue was losing images on all the posts.
Someone recommended installing the SSL Insecure Content Fixer plugin to fix that problem. Once I did that, they still weren’t showing. Then I found someone else with the same problem and someone said it might take a day or two for the propagation of the images to show up. So I was patient and now all that works on all our blogs. Yeah!
Tony Stewart’s Dassault Falcon 50 N500TS-Tail Markings
Today my 11-year-old told me about an idea he had for us to have a plane and commute to work by air. I made mention that if we had a plane, we would be using it to fly on vacation and probably going to the races around the country. I don’t think commuting to work would get much done. Well not in the kind of plane he was talking about.
Which brought up different kinds of planes, other than commercial planes, what they’re used for and who uses them. Which of course brought me to NASCAR. Hey, it’s what I do.
If you have a favorite race car driver you know most of them have a private plane to get around the country for business. Whither they’re flying to a race, back home again or to visit with Sponsors and their staff, race car drivers do a lot of traveling. Continue reading →
3-Time NASCAR Cup Champion Tony Stewart ~ The People’s Champion
Hidden Hollow Updated: March, 2018
If you’ve never been to a Bass Pro Shop store, you really need to go. Even if you only go once, it’s worth the experience! Each one is an outdoor adventurist’s dream. But they’re also part museum, art gallery, antique store, aquarium, education, conservation and entertainment center all rolled into one. And I believe all of the stores, have some kind of restaurant attached, which adds to the adventure. But the stores themselves, will give you an idea of what Tony Stewart’s Hidden Hollow looks like.
Several years ago, my family and I went to the Bass Pro Shop in Ashland Virginia soon after it opened. We all fell in love with that place from the get go. The restaurant, has become our celebration location, for birthdays, anniversaries and most holidays. Please, we live in the middle of no-where; there’s not a lot of places to go out and celebrate. The kid loves going to dinner and then heading upstairs at the shop, where he can take part in the “play gun” target practice range. But we especially love going to BPS during Yuletide when we can visit with Santa and have our picture taken for Free!
Our BassProShop hosts a great sea food restaurant named Islamadora. During dinner we started talking about living in a house designed like the store. It’s truly a masterpiece of art, nature and architecture. What a dream home that would be.
One of the advantages of being a 3 time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion, like Tony Stewart, is being able to build your dream home. And he certainly did! His new home reminds me of the Bass Pro Shops stores, inside and out and nearly exactly like what we had imagined such a house would look like. And why shouldn’t it, Johnny Morris owner of the Bass Pro Shops is one of Tony’s dearest friends.
Before you continue reading this post; let me clear something up. This IS NOT Tony’s website. Try TonyStewart.com. So for those of you who feel the need to comment on this post and let Tony know you love his house and you want to come visit; please remember I’m not Tony; I’m not related to Tony, this isn’t his website; and he’ll probably NEVER see your comments. I appreciate the feedback and I love the house too. But you’ll be making your comments to me…not him So please don’t get upset when he doesn’t see them and doesn’t respond. Thanks.
A picture can speak 1,000 words. Graphics can add a lot of flair to your web site. They put your words into images and grab the attention of the reader. How many articles have you clicked on, because the picture was intriguing?
Too many graphics can also be a deterrent to visitors. The more graphics you have, the longer your web page takes to load. In a world of instant gratification, if users have to wait, they cancel your page and go on to something else. You must use your own judgment to find that happy medium.
You also don’t want to use graphics that are too large for you article. I don’t mean taking up white space, and condensing your paragraphs to a tiny column next to the image. I mean taking up disk space which affects load time when you’re page is accessed through a browser. Remember not everyone is on a high speed internet connection. But even if they were, you don’t want people waiting for your page to load, because the image files are too large. Continue reading →
