Kevin Harvick Wins The Title

Tonight was the night. NASCAR’s premier series ran its final race of the season. Four teams, four crews and four drivers fighting against each other to take that final flag and win the title.

From a race fan, it wasn’t a greatly exciting race at first. Our favorites moved their way up front in the first 30laps and seemed to be in for a decent day. Biding their time, riding the race near the front and waiting for Go Time. Which was over 100 laps away.

We kept our eye on our favorite series drivers too. Even though they weren’t in the Chase there were reasons to cheer them on to a win. In my case, that mean hoping Tony Stewart could pull out a win on this final race of the season in order to keep his 15 consecutive seasons with at least 1 win, alive. Sadly, it wasn’t to be. A very ill handling car dropped Smoke to the back of the field and one lap down. Eventually it was time to let it go. He was facing going down another lap, the car was falling apart and there more happy events to take in at the end of this race.

Namely, cheering on his driver of the #4 Budweiser Chevy, Kevin Harvick. If Kevin could win, it’s another Championship for Stewart-Haas Racing. But it’s Kevin’s first Championship in the Sprint Cup Series. Continue reading

November’s Full Moon 2014

Life On The Lake

On our way out of the neighborhood we must drive across the dam road. No not that kind of dam. The dam that was built to create the beautiful 300 acre lake we live on. There are no natural lakes in the Commonwealth of Virginia. They’re all man-made, but that doesn’t take anything away from their beauty.

We head out early during the week days. And this morning we were greeted with an early view of the Hunter’s Moon. November’s Full Moon had just started to set behind the trees in the west, when the cool morning was breaking into fall colors as the Sun brightened the sky from the east.

A special moment when the Sun can love the Moon and kiss the sky with their embrace.

A Halloween Ghost Story

Pumpkin TalesThe Ghouls and Goblins Of Halloween

Twas the night of Ghosts, Goblins and Spooks. The night hidden in shadow beneath the watchful moon. When the Good Folk of the Shire below have placed Jack-o-Lanterns on their porches, door stops and steps to ward of the spirits of the night. They dress up in costume to fool the ghouls to hide their presence along their travels in the darkness.

But the mischievous spirits of the night knock on doors and demand their treats or tricks they’ll play all over the street. While the Good Folk shiver and shake by the hearth inside, afraid to go out or take a peak outside. Lighting candles and praying the evil passes them by.

But fear not, my fellow folk, for the good Fairies are afoot this eve. Flitting here and there, sharing their light throughout the peaceful shire. Casting their magikal dust over the tiny homes and the malicious ghouls who haunt the land throughout the night.

As the warm rays of light rise up over the horizons, and chase the goblins from the shadows of the night. The Good Folk throw open the shutters and unlock their doors to the light of day. They celebrate with excitement and with offerings of fruit and breads. They share their platters with the wee folk of plant and forest. “Blessings and thanks we send to thee, our Fairy folk of flower and tree!”

Tony Stewart Returns To Cup Racing – Atlanta Press Conference

Tony Stewart Is Free And Clear
Answering the Questions put forth by Detractors
September 25, 2014 – Updated Sept 26, 2014

Ontario County N.Y. District Attorney Michael Tantillo released a statement on Wednesday September 24th, 2014 to announce the Grand Jury’s decision concerning the tragic death of Kevin Ward, Jr. and Tony Stewart’s part in the accident.

The following is a Transcript of news conference with the Ontario County DA Michael Tantillo:
The grand jury has today completed its investigation. During the course of the grand jury presentation, approximately two dozen witnesses testified. These included a number of race car drivers, racetrack employees and volunteers, two accident reconstructionists, medical personnel and a number of police officers. In addition, of the grand jury reviewed a number of photographs and video recordings as well as other documentary evidence. After listening to and questioning all of the witnesses and reviewing all of the evidence, the grand jury has determined there is no basis to charge Tony Stewart with any crimes. This case was therefore no-billed by the grand jury. I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I’ve made no secret that I’m a Tony Stewart fan. I have been since he stepped onto the stage in NASCAR, which happened back in the late 90s. I care about him, I defend him, and I have a biased opinion. But yes I’ve called him out when he’s done something on the track that he shouldn’t. I’m biased, not blind.

So when I first heard the news that the Grand Jury had cleared him of any criminal intent, and that the case was closed through no-billed, I immediately tweeted my joy. Continue reading

Starting The Healing

3-Time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart, returned to the track this week at Atlanta Motor Speedway!

As a fan I’m elated. It takes a lot of courage to come out of safety of your home, no matter how big and beautiful it is; and walk into the lions den. Image having to face the reporters, especially the ones that don’t know you. Have no idea about racing and what’s involved. Ready to pounce with ignorant and meaningless questions. Especially when you’re still hurting and grieving over the loss of a young life.

In the lime light everyone, people who know him well, people who are professional acquaintances, even his biggest fans all commented that this was not our Tony. This is not the fun loving, quick witted, “most soft spoken bad ass” in Nascar.  Continue reading

When Bad Things Happen To Good People

TonySupportLiving With Guilt And Sorrow

Tragedy comes in many forms. Things that happen to us, things we’re involved in and choices others make that turn us into the victim, but no one else notices.

I’m a spiritual person, a minister of my faith. On my path, we believe in reincarnation, karma, and that we’re all connected and interconnected throughout the Divine Universe! We are ALL part of the greater Divine consciousness, because we are made from that same star-dust that created the multiverse we live in.

Because of this view I don’t believe in the random tragedies or that all events we go through are accidents, nor are they preordained. Rather they are things we, let me rephrase – our greater inner spirit – has chosen to be involved in on a much higher level than our physical selves. In some cases I believe some of these events are extremely and extraordinarily selfless acts of sacrifices given for the betterment of a community, a nation or maybe even the world.

Before I go any further, let me once again, publicly offer my deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Ward family. This article will not and does not disparage anyone, through judgement or inference about what happened on that tragic night in August.  In fact, I believe from my ministerial perspective, there’s a greater Divine act occurring and both Kevin and Tony have made a huge selfless sacrifice for others in the world of racing. Please let me explain.

It might sound strange to some to think of the tragic event that occurred between Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward Jr. as selfless sacrifice. I’d respond with give the thought a chance. There’s history in that kind of thinking. It’s not the first time such an event has changed the world. Continue reading
