Spring Will Be Appearing On – Paranormal Geeks Radio

Springwolf AppearancesFrom time to time Spring makes appearances for lectures, workshops, book signings and interviews. We share the dates, locations and information about these events on the Appearance page of Springwolf Reflections. And we try to help promote those events, on the blog feed.

Spring will be appearing on internet radio this week, with one of her favorite Paranormal people, Dr. Mary Marshall. And she’s looking forward to meeting a new friend, host Jim Heater of Paranormal Geeks Radio.

June 20th 6:00pm Eastern – Paranormal Geeks Radio
Host Jim Heater created the CHampaign/CHicago Illinois Paranormal Society – CH.I.P.S. and the Spirits of Lincoln paranormal teams. Along with his semi-regular guest co-host Dr. Mary Marshall from The Paranormal MD radio show, they share their knowledge, stories and conversation about the Paranormal world and Paranormal Investigations.

This Saturday, Spring will join the crew on to share information about Pagan Metaphysics, Wicca, Witchcraft and Magik. What are these practices, the misconceptions, beliefs? We’ll discuss the growing popularity and struggles of Pagans here in the U.S. and around the world. And a whole lot more. We always have fun on our radio shows, so we hope you’ll tune in and listen! You’ll be able to tune in and listen LIVE on Saturday 6pm eastern on the Para-X Radio Network.

It’s The Little Things

Enjoy The Small Things In Life

Because the big things don’t come along that often. Sharing some personal excitement from my twitter account tonight. Last month we bought a pretty, albeit used, Ford Escape from our local dealer, Sheehy Ford. I’ve never owned a vehicle that wasn’t a Ford, so I’m sort of biased. But I love each and everyone I’ve had. And they’ve all been great and taken very good care of me.

Last week I had a hitch put on my little truck. And then I set out to find a hitch cover to keep it safe and sound when we’re not using it. And that cover came today. Although it did come in pieces.

I’ve been doing manly mechanical stuff on my new(used) truck & its new hitch! It lights up! ‪#‎Ford‬ ‪#‎Escape‬ ‪#‎ImExcited‬
Ford Light Up Hitch

It was a pain in the butt to build the attachment piece. And truth be told, I did have to take it apart and reroute the wires properly. But I did it! And in time to pick up the Daddy person from the train tomorrow.

I’ll have to find out if I can get a small extension for the cord. It barely reaches and I think that’s probably a bad thing. we’ll see what I can do. Might be as simple as turning the attachment 45degrees. That means taking it apart…again. I’ve done it once, I can do it again!

Oh well, I’m happy and I can’t wait to go somewhere and show it off. That won’t be till tomorrow morning when I can balance the manly mechanical thing with some girly stuff. I’m getting my nails done for my birthday!

Decoration Day 2015

Thank you

Thank you

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America. Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966, it’s difficult to prove conclusively the origins of the day.

Regardless of the exact date or location of its origins, one thing is clear – Memorial Day was borne out of the Civil War and a desire to honor our dead. It was officially proclaimed on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11. “The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land,” he proclaimed.

The date of Decoration Day, as he called it, was chosen because it wasn’t the anniversary of any particular battle.

Religious Freedom In Virginia

Do Your Own Research

Do Your Own Research

Religious Freedom vs. Rights of Conscience

Today’s News media has fallen short of being a reliable source for factual reporting over the past 3 decades. They’re more interested in spinning headlines that inflame and infuriate people, than reporting the complete facts, explaining in full what’s really going on and falling short in giving both sides of a story.

This past week as Indiana garnered great heat over a recently passed “Religious Freedom” act, the News Media has left out certain pieces of information that leads one to think Virginia has a similar modern religious freedom act in place. Say what?!

From watching the coverage, this was the impression I was given from watching the news on all the major networks. Even the Washington Post left out the full facts. In their reporting they conveyed the message that 19 other states have a “Religious Freedom” act, including my home state of Virginia.

I wanted to read the law and find out when it was put into place. So I went off to do my own research. Well color me surprised! That’s not really the case at all!

Old Wives Tales

Old wives’ tale is an epithet used to indicate that a supposed truth is actually a superstition or something untrue, to be ridiculed. It can be said sometimes to be a type of urban legend, said to be passed down by older women to a younger generation. Such “tales” are considered superstition, folklore or unverified claims with exaggerated and/or inaccurate details. Today, some “old wives’ tales” have proven to be valid. Old wives’ tales often center on women’s traditional concerns, such as pregnancy, puberty, social relations, health, herbalism and nutrition.” ~ Wikipedia ‘Old Wives Tales‘.

Sometimes there’s a reason a story from the past was created and passed down through the ages. Because it was true, it worked or it was valid then as it is today. Our modern scientific society isn’t always right and in the know about everything. When we ridicule something from the past as ridiculous, we’re doing not only the ways of old a disservice, but ourselves too. Continue reading
