RSCA Methodology

riskRisk, Security & Compliance Assessments

The RSCA approach is used to evaluate the current state of Security and Compliance activities for SOx remediation within a business. RSCA is a three-step methodology designed to manage and provide oversight for business risk and compliance. But keep in mind that neither SOx nor RSCA are designed to eliminate all risk. They are designed to ensure risks are known and either corrected or accepted.

To that end, RSCA addresses your companies governance through:

  1. Planning and Data Collection
  2. Risk and Security Assessment
  3. Tracking and Reporting

These steps have been implemented at many large corporations facing large remediation initiatives. But it’s a method that can be easily scaled to any size business. These steps help to ensure both your business and IT processes are being adhered to, identifies gaps or risks that need to be resolved, tracks those resolution efforts and provides a method of reporting through each chain of command necessary for Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) Assessments.

See my IT Governance section for more information about IT Audit, and Governance, Risk Management & Compliance (GRC) and Risk, Security & Compliance Assessments (RSCA).

Hello world!

swlogo2Welcome To Springwolf’s Kosmos

The year was 1997. I was working as an Internet Engineer at a fortune 50 company. Newt Gingrich was narrowly re-elected as speaker of the US House of Representatives. The 23rd People’s Choice Awards: Mel Gibson & Sandra Bullock win (Dramatic Motion Picture) and Tim Allen & Oprah Winfrey win for their TV shows. The Space Shuttle STS 81 (Atlantis 18), launches into space and returns home safely weeks later. In Super Bowl XXXI the Green Bay Packers beat NE Patriots, 35-21 in New Orleans. At age 25, Jeff Gordon is youngest winner in Daytona 500 history. And that was just the first two months of the year.  But it was also the year that I created my very first website on the world-wide web, as everyone was calling it back then. Continue reading

About Springwolf’s Kosmos

Me & My Man

Me & My Man

Springwolf.com Goes To The Dogs..I mean Blogs.

Springwolf.com was my first website on the internet and I started it back in 1997. It hasn’t really changed a lot over that time. I’ve added stuff, deleted stuff and replaced stuff. But it’s been quite a while since I really did anything with it. I decided this week that it needed a total overhaul. And the best way to do that, was to turn the static site into a blog.

Then came the name. What to call my special place here. Well when I first decided to turn my site into a blog, I decided to call it Springwolf’s Kosmos. And that’s what this article originally talks about.

In July 2014, my Gemini side reared up and I felt the need for change. Kosmos was retired and Springwolf’s Creations was born.

But I really liked the Kosmos; so here’s my homage to the original inspiration and creation.

March 26, 2014
I recently had a dream of a very kewl place. An island somewhere out in space. It was a 5 acre tropical island, complete with an ocean (yeah, it’s a dream; I got no idea where the ocean came from on this floating island in the depths of space). There was a lovely white and glass house, that cleaned itself. Another great plus to this dream. And off to what I’m calling the east of the island was a pinkish/purple/blue nebula and several planets that hovered on and near the horizon. I went on a search to find a sci-fi image that came close to what I saw on my special island to no avail. But I did find several images that were close. Being the artist I am, I decided to combine the components of those images and make the view of my Galactic home come to life. Continue reading
