The American Flag on the 4th of July

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July

A Poem

From porches and poles of the greatest height,
Unfurl the stripes of red and of white.
Let her wave and sing in the breezy air,
As the stars of glory wave high up there.

Give thanks to all those who gave so much,
for the freedoms and rights we love to clutch.
To soldier, to patriot, to all those who fought,
in the past or the present, your gift isn’t forgot.

For each time that great flag flies up upon high,
on the 4th of July with hotdogs and apple pie,
we’ll take a moment to remember and reflect,
to celebrate and honor with the greatest respect!

Happy 4th of July to one and to all,
Many thanks to those who elect to stand tall!
To stand for freedom by gun or by protest.
Thank you for your bravery and your zest!

Freedom doesn’t come free. While you celebrate this weekend, remember all those who came before us and sacrificed so much. The men and women of our armed forces of course! But don’t forget those who put all they had on the line for you. The founding fathers, the families and the patriots who stand tall, who fight with their voice or their pen. It takes more than brute force to make freedom remain free. It takes a nation of people from sea to sea. Continue reading

I’ve Been Redecorating

Some New Paint and Drapes

It’s been a very stressful week! Seriously, I’m over my head and someone keeps trying to push me under no matter how hard we try to tread water!

Today I reached the limit and needed to do something to relax and get my mind off things.  After I made my phone calls, sent my emails, did my research and all that other crap; that creative Gemini side stood up and said …I have an idea!! Let’s redecorate the blog!

So I let my mind wander to a place of quiet relaxation and came up with …..Mint Orchids. Tada!

Springwolf's Creations

Oh and of course a new paint required a new name. So I retired the Kosmos and brought forth Creations.

A deep and heart-felt Thank You to all the Men, Women and Soldier Animals of our Armed Services, living and in spirit! Thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

memorialday2 memorial_day

This weekend is a reminder of the sacrifices that have been made for freedom. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the fallen Union Soldiers. The south too had its day of Decoration, but the date of celebration varied through out each region of the nation. Continue reading

Happy Mother’s Day 2014

I Love My Momma

I Love You Momma

Happy Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a holiday honoring motherhood that is observed in different forms throughout the world. The American incarnation of Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914. Jarvis would later denounce the holiday’s commercialization and spent the latter part of her life trying to remove it from the calendar. While dates and celebrations vary, Mother’s Day most commonly falls on the second Sunday in May and traditionally involves presenting mothers with flowers, cards and other gifts.

In the years before the Civil War (1861-65), Ann Reeves Jarvis of West Virginia helped start “Mothers’ Day Work Clubs” to teach local women how to properly care for their children. These clubs later became a unifying force in a region of the country still divided over the Civil War. In 1868 Jarvis organized “Mothers’ Friendship Day,” at which mothers gathered with former Union and Confederate soldiers to promote reconciliation. Continue reading

A Free and Open Internet For All

netneutralityNet Neutrality

Did you know your ability to access internet data is under threat? Seriously. You might lose your FREE access to a variety of websites, information and more if the FCC continues to back the desire of ISPs to charge for access.

Today Senator Elizabeth Warren posted a warning on her Facebook page concerning the pay-for-play policy being considered by FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler.

On her post, Sen. Warren wrote:
We don’t know who is going to have the next big idea in this country, but we’re pretty sure they’re going to need to get online to do it. Reports that the FCC may gut net neutrality are disturbing, and would be just one more way the playing field is tilted for the rich and powerful who have already made it. Our regulators already have all the tools they need to protect a free and open Internet – where a handful of companies cannot block or filter or charge access fees for what we do online. They should stand up and use them.

What’s at issue?
There are many places online to read about both sides of the issue. But who do you trust? I’d be more inclined to lean toward Wikipedia (Wikipedia:Net Neutrality) than some of the PC blogs and online magazines. Everyone has a slant to the issue. So I kept researching. Continue reading

HTML 108.1 – TheSiteWizard Form

web-forms2Finding The Right Contact Form Program

In HTML 108 – Web Forms I mention my favorite site for creating a Contact form program and webpage: TheSiteWizard.com.

You can build a customized script specifically for your site at TheSiteWizard.com. At the time of this writing – I really love this place! They advertise their Wizard as:
TheSiteWizard.com’s Free Customized Feedback Form Wizard creates a FREE feedback form for your website. This allows you to put a Feedback Form or Contact Form on your site so that visitors can send you messages / email or make comments.

In full disclosure, TheSiteWizard site isn’t the greatest user-friendly site I’ve seen.  But I’ve written instructions for what to do on their site for a few friends and it seemed silly not to add that here to my blog as well. So here are my easy instructions for using TheSiteWizard.com site for creating your own form. Continue reading
