Ontario County N.Y. District Attorney Michael Tantillo released a statement on Wednesday September 24th, 2014 to announce the Grand Jury’s decision concerning the tragic death of Kevin Ward, Jr. and Tony Stewart’s part in the accident.
The following is a Transcript of news conference with the Ontario County DA Michael Tantillo:
“The grand jury has today completed its investigation. During the course of the grand jury presentation, approximately two dozen witnesses testified. These included a number of race car drivers, racetrack employees and volunteers, two accident reconstructionists, medical personnel and a number of police officers. In addition, of the grand jury reviewed a number of photographs and video recordings as well as other documentary evidence. After listening to and questioning all of the witnesses and reviewing all of the evidence, the grand jury has determined there is no basis to charge Tony Stewart with any crimes. This case was therefore no-billed by the grand jury. I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.”
I’ve made no secret that I’m a Tony Stewart fan. I have been since he stepped onto the stage in NASCAR, which happened back in the late 90s. I care about him, I defend him, and I have a biased opinion. But yes I’ve called him out when he’s done something on the track that he shouldn’t. I’m biased, not blind.
So when I first heard the news that the Grand Jury had cleared him of any criminal intent, and that the case was closed through no-billed, I immediately tweeted my joy. Continue reading

The Super Invisible Bug Highway
Look up at the sky and what do you see? Well, blue, yes. And maybe a plane or a bird, but otherwise … nothing. Or so you think. It turns out that right above you, totally invisible, is an enormous herd of animal life — tiny bugs riding the wind currents.

I saw this on NPR and absolutely had to share. It’s all science and nature and entertaining and I learned something and I love ALL that stuff.
You’ve seen birds use updrafts to soar high in the clouds. These pockets of heated warm air can help large birds, like Turkey Vultures gain lift on wind currents so they don’t have use all their energy flapping their big wings. Not to mention big birds like this can weigh up to 5lbs or more.
Now imagine that same updraft if you a tiny little ladybug. You might not ride on the wind current totally on purpose as much as simply getting caught in the updraft and being carried away. How high could a little ladybug go? Pretty high actually, but they’re not the highest fliers! Take a look at this:
